What Information Do Mileage Tracking Apps Collect?

What GigMeter stores on your iPhone, when location runs, and what is not saved: no map of your route, no GigMeter server for work data.

A mileage app that is always listening is a different product from one that only uses location while you are on the clock. Read the permission screen and the privacy page before you clock in.

GigMeter uses location only while you are clocked in and not paused, and only to estimate distance. The full write-up is on getgigmeter.com/privacy. Download on the App Store.

What GigMeter stores

Sessions, earnings, expenses, platforms, categories, vehicles, and settings on your iPhone. Optional iCloud sync through your private iCloud database if you are signed in. There is no GigMeter account. There is no GigMeter server for that work data. We cannot see iCloud records.

Each session stores a mileage total, not a map. Coordinates and routes are not saved, not synced, and not sent anywhere.

Location

While Using the App, never Always. Tracking can continue if you switch to another app during a shift (iOS shows the indicator). Pause or clock out and updates stop. Decline location and you can still clock in; miles will not count until you allow it in iOS Settings.

Purchases and support

Clock in and new entries require GigMeter Pro. Apple handles billing. RevenueCat checks whether the subscription is active. RevenueCat does not receive sessions, earnings, expenses, or location.

Support and “Got feedback?” on the rating prompt open UserJot. What you type there is UserJot’s, not a row in GigMeter.

The website

The app is on the App Store. If you previously joined a mailing list on this site, we collected only the email you submitted so we could tell you when GigMeter shipped. We do not sell those addresses.

Notifications: the clock-out reminder is local on the phone, not push from a server.
